CHAMPIONS OF LIFE......What they said - 1

PRACTICAL HINTS-1

Fix the mind on ONE

1) Those who fixing their minds on Me(supreme lord) worship Me(supreme lord) with perpetual devotion, endowed with supreme faith, to my mind they are  considered by Me to be most perfect(yoga).......Bhagvad Gita. chapt 12:2
2) Shake off your sleep, and seek the grace of the Lord with steadfast devotion. Make the mind one pointed like the mariner's compass. In whatever direction the ship may sail, the compass always points to the north, thus keeping the ship on its course. Even so with the human mind. If it is fixed on God , there will be nothing to fear. If by Chance one is thrown into a bad environment, even then his faith and devotion will remain unshaken. The moment he hears any talk about God, he will become mad with divine love-just as the flint, lying under water for a hundred years, when taken out and struck, emits .sparks...........Swami Brahmananda.as said in kanakhal, Rishikesh,India

3)In studying the wisdom of the sages it is imperative to have one definite aim-that of become a true man. The ancients said that he who could will could always accomplish, and that determination was half the battle. Once we have a definite aim, we become as bowmen with arrows trained on the target, or as travelers already moving toward their destination. In formulation our aims, let us be courageous rather than timid, and seek the truth even as the hungry man seeks food, the thirsty water, allowing nothing to hinder us as we press the goal, Chu said;" Unless the aim be single , it cannot succeed" .Then let him who venture in the quest for true wisdom be single minded, with concentration of setting hen or of a cat watching her prey.........Kaibara Ekken

4)If a man's faith is unsteady, if he does not know the true Law, if his peace of mind is troubled , his knowledge will never be perfect, Wise people, meditative, steady, attain to Nirvana, the highest happiness......Gautama Buddha.
5) So go ahead , my children, and never lose sight of your Ideal!, Go onward and never stop until you have reached the Goal. Reaching a particular stage, don't run away with the idea that you have come to your journey;s end . Work is only the first stage of the journey, Bear in mind that doing things Unattached is exceedingly difficult; that therefore the path of love is better suited to this age and that work, Even if unattached , is not the end of your life, but only a means to the end. So March on, and never halt till you have come up to the great Ideal of your life- Seeing of God............Saint Ramakrishna Paramahansa.

KEY TO CONCENTRATION - 2

KEY TO CONCENTRATION

Every human being has the faculty of concentrating, but every human being has not acquired the power of directing the mind toward that which is creative, constructive and helpful. It is an art which we have to learn by degrees. Concentration gives power. We all understand this to a certain extent, but largely as an intellectual concept. Today many believe  that whatever they desire they can obtain by concentrating upon it. That is cheap form of psychological practice. Merely gaining that upon which we have set our heart does not make for true success, otherwise a greater number of people would be successful. The thief concentrates upon his victim and steals his purse , yet we don't envy him his action temporarily he may be seem to gain his end and that has great popular appeal but the fabric of his character is weakened.

Very useful Tips to practice and increase our concentration given by swami Parmananda, a Monk of Ramakrishna Math, Madras.

1) The flexible mind:
One of the immediate results we obtain through the practice is right concentration is that our mind grows Strong and flexible. it adapts itself with great ease to what ever may be placed before it, even some thing that is out of its accustomed line.

2)Value of relaxation:
The most effectual mentality does not express itself through tenseness; yet the average individual, in the act of accomplishing some thing, makes himself so tense and Right that he comes almost to the breaking point. This just the opposite of the true method.Thought concentration makes us calm and collected and we emanate serene strength. Also our thoughts function most freely and can be focused with greater effectiveness when the mind and body are relaxed and tranquil.

3)Serene mindedness:
Never be in a hurry; learn to be poised and thoughtful. The man who has gained even in small measure the power of concentration moves quietly with a sense of leisure, as if there were nothing else in the entire universe but that one task laid before him.

4)From Atom to infinite:
When the mind is concentrated on any subject which stands for vitality, energy, action or spiritual poise, it connects us , as it were, with the reservoir of these wonderful spiritual qualities. By concentration we can unite ourselves with all things, from the minutest to the biggest, from the lowest to the highest, As it is truly said by the Yogi, "Through mastery of concentration one gains access every where, from the atom to the Infinite"

5)Concentration of body and mind:
Concentration is a faculty of both body and soul. There is physical concentration and there is mental concentration . Physical concentration means gathering together every ounce of bodily strength and directing it one pointedly. Mental concentration is far more difficult, but it gives unlimited power to the mind.
6) Wrong choice of reaction:
Whatever a man wants he can obtain. By degree we accomplish our end. That is why we must purify our desires that we may not want the wrong thing, because whenever we make a wrong choice and work for it there is always the reaction. Moreover, after we have achieved our aim, we may find that we no longer desire it.

7)Concentration means self control:
Concentration implies great self-control. One who has no control over himself, who is easily upset, made angry or revengeful, such one lacks true concentration, although he may long to have the power which it gives. Owing to his weakness, he cannot have it.True concentration means strength -strength of mind, strength of character-and cannot be used for destructive purposes or to satisfy petty personal desires.

8)Source of strength:
Our desire should be for that which makes us strong-strong to meet unexpected shocks-depression, chaos, uncertainty-and this strength does not depend on material resources but on poise and mental calibre.

9)The main idea:
The main idea of concentration is to make of ourselves a channel, so clear , so direct , so unbiased, that through our instrumentality the power of Divinity can flow and accomplish  Its great end. Keep this always in mind.

10) Physical and mental habits:
Concentration means effort. It means overcoming physical and mental habits.People by means of their mental strength can over come physical habits, but mental habits are more difficult to control. The mind always can help us overcome physical tendencies. In fact, if the mind is strong enough and the desire sufficiently one -pointed, even habits of long duration, such as drinking and the drug habit, can be conquered through the mind. When we come to mental habits, however, if we have not a good , collected and flexible mind, we are confronted with far greater difficulty.

11) Mental standards:
It is not that there is a lack of mental standards, but mental standards are not enough. If they were, Christ, Buddha and other Master-Spirits would have changed the world. Great ones give, but man cannot always receive. He has the power to make his own interpretation. He can see everything clear and shinning or through the eyes of distortion. When the sun is visible, he can make himself believe it as mirage, When the possibility of good fortune arises, he can persuade himself that it is only a trap. Mind alone creates such condition, there for mind itself must be its own subject of concentration.

12)Slavery to external:
There average person craves diverse outside interests. In fact the less a man is nourished inwardly, the more does he want outer contact, companionship and diversion. Not only does he want them, he must have them.It becomes a sort of slavery, like the habit of narcotics. It can however , be cured by simple turn of mind. The moment the mind becomes truly focused, we seem to enter new province. Something is unfolded from within, and like a man who has discovered a Gold mine, we can think of nothing else, we can speak of nothing else," Seeing self by the self, we are satisfied in the self alone"

13) Gradual attainment:
We cannot achieve all at once any great ideal. Our present stature, position, tendencies have to be readjusted and the process of readjustment takes a shorter or longer time according to the earnestness and persistence of the efforts we make. I mean this in every sense of word.

14)Haunting Memories:
The true from of concentration requires a dynamic attitude.Often when the mind is harassed by the  memory of painful experiences, disappointments, sad associations, we try to make our escape by means of a negative process- We strive to empty the mind, to cease thinking, in the hope that thus we shall find peace. Occasionally a little relaxation comes this way, but real peace is never gained through negation: it is due to mental control. The thing is, we should not strive to empty the mind of thought;rather we should fill it so completely with one vital, vibrant, constructive thought, that no other thought can find entrance.

15)Mental spendthrift:
In moments of great exuberance and upliftment, your mind, your senses and all your faculties seem to blend. For the time, you find no difficulty in concentrating your mind upon any subject. Then grow careless. You settle down and live on your past experience and the success that went with it, feeling that the merit with it, feeling that the merit you attained at that period will carry you without any further effort on your part. You become like an improvident person trying to live on his inheritance. Although he may have had a fortune to begin with, it soon dwindles to nothing.

16) Tuning our instrument:
The practice of concentration is very much like keeping a musical instrument in tune. A musician who loves his instrument does not neglect it, even when he is not going to play before the public. We may not need all our powers of concentration to do what is immediately before us, but we never know when a crisis may arise. That is why we cannot afford to neglect the mind.

17)Armour of Prayer:
These principles you must learn to apply. When conditions become harrowing and you feel powerless, then hold fast. Do not permit things to crowd in on your mind. Create a barrier - a wall.Take a thought or a little prayer or a poem-anything of spiritual significance- and form an armor about you. Instead of letting the mind revolve round and round your aches and pains and sickness, take a firm stand and fasten your thought to the Infinite. This practice will bring wholeness and healing.

18)Lotus of the heart:
From the very outset, banish all impatience.Impatience only makes your road harder.Be steadfast, resolute and enduring. No matter how many times you may seem to fail, bring the mind back and focus it on the Ideal, focus it on the lotus of the heart, full of light, full of purity, untainted by sin and sorrow. In this way, and in this way alone, you will know and realize and enter into the meaning of that profound truth: As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he! So shall he make himself to be.

19)Words of Shri Krishna:
In the Bhagvad-Gita, Shri Krishna gives a wonderful picture of the concentrated mind:" As a lamp placed in a windless spot does not flicker, the same smile is used to define a Yogi of subdued mind practising union with Self".

20)Illuminated mind a Vessel of Gold:
Sri Ramakrishna, the great Master of modern India gives in his teachings a wonderful, a very vivid illustration in regard to this subject of mental practice. Every man, he says, should make a legitimate effort to keep his mind in a good, clean concentrated condition, otherwise it grows unsightly- like metal vessel which becomes tarnished if it is into polished every day. A golden vessel, however, does not have to be polished so frequently. So with our mind. Once it touches the Supreme, it becomes like the vessel of Gold-it retains its sun like splendor, its shining quality, even when it is not given any special care. When mind makes its point of contact with the central Source of life and power, all our troubles end.

"lets make effort to make ourselves a Golden Vessel"

Key to concentration

My friend recently joined MBA course, she wanted to know how to build concentraion and focus, so that she can do well in studies.Swami parmananda , ramakrishna math , madras who spread vendanta in america and west give some useful practicle tips onconcentration,in a language that we can understand easily, and adpot them in life. The insights of his tips goes like this:

The practice of holding to one subject is the real key to concentration. Patanjali, the father of Yoga system , advocates this, and where ever we find its practical evidence, we find that this method has been applied. It is the one eternal principle in the mental control. The Fact is, we cannot do more than one thing at a time and do it well. But if we concentrate on that one thing wholly, we succeed not only in doing it well, we do it much more quickly , thus we save our time and energy for the next task which lies before us. This is very essential in every phase and department on of human interest.
Value of change:
Do not imagine, however, that the practice of concentration implies that you must dwell upon just one thing and do nothing else, even when you are tired , bored and discouraged through repeated unsuccessfully efforts. A change of physical and mental occupation sometimes is necessary and beneficial. You will go back to your task with fresh interest and renewed vigor , and naturally you will be able make greater progress.

Time vs concentration:
" The great difference between those who achieve and those who fail consists not so much in the amount of time devoted to work by each, but in the degree to which he intelligently applies his power, mental and physical to one purpose"

Discouragement an obstacle:
Do not be discouraged ever, as you struggle along the way. It is the greatest possible detriment to our progress, the worst obstacle you can create to block your path. One who is discouraged denies his true Self, his inherent, divine being..

Concentration a definite cure:
concentration is a definite cure for all manner of mental disturbances, As we focus our mind on a constructive principle, uneasiness, restlessness, worry, the attitude of self-depreciation, - all these ailments are crowded out of our system.
Co-ordination of whole man
Concentration does not depend upon how much time we spend, but on how well we hold ourselves together  As we are able to co-ordinate our body, our mind, and all our scattered forces and succeed in making them as one we realize in full measure our innate efficiency.

An excellent slogan:
There is nothing insignificant anywhere. This is an excellent slogan to carry in the mind. Give your attention to the smallest of tasks; do every thing with feeling, with true devotion-it is the best way to build up the habit of concentration. A small task well done will give you the power to do a bigger one better.

Wrong Concentration:
Wrong concentration, as well, may bring us moments of satisfaction through the gratification of our lower desires, but in the end it leads to the demoralization of our entire system;for wrong-doing can never earn for us the right to happiness.
By wrong concentration mean the deliberate focusing of mental energy in order to harm some one, Although temporarily a person may be successful in his ill use of this great power ever naturally it cannot fail to react upon him "He whose mind is not tranquil can know neither peace nor happiness"

Unconscious concentration:
Often, quite unconsciously, we concentrate on something what is detrimental. Violent emotion-anger or hatred for instance-will focus the mind in a manner that is hurtful to ourselves and others. Also the mind can be focused by worry. This cannot be called concentration, yet it does cause the mind to go round and round a subject in a negative and destructive way.

Wrong methods:
It may sound strange and incongruous to connect concentration with any negative. Usually we understand by concentration something that is strong, potent, vibrant. If , however, our mind forms a habit of dwelling upon that which is morbid or of no consequence-as, for instance, when an individual indulges in thoughts of brooding or self pity-gradually we develop these wrong and negative methods. Negative concentration, instead of giving us any benefit, weakens us and often causes an acute form of melancholia, The cure for all these mental disorders is positive concentration. In fact, real concentration always should be understood in terms of definiteness and positiveness.

CUP OF WATER.......

Narada muni and Lord krishna

Few months back i was sharing a story to my near and dear friends called story of 1 crore, that time i never realised that such ideas were been already thought of before, "its really true that there is no invention in this world its only discoveries". What ever we think its been some where , some time , some others might have  already  thought of . In this visible world   its been always new synergies. Yestarday, read a story of Krishna and Narada which  is quite similar to my  Rs1 crore story of mind. The Krishna- Narada story goes like this.

Once upon a time Narada muni appears before Lord Krishna and seek absolute knowledge from him, But lord krishna doesn't feel  he is the right person(patra) to be given the absolute knowledge, He didnt answerd. Hence on another Occasion the Narada muni ask him the same Question, My lord enlighten me,this time lord Krishna cited that narada is not  keen to listen to his view point ,hence he said "lets go for a walk". Felt very happy Narada get along with him. After reaching to jungle , stopped after seeing a village nearby ask Narada to bring cup of water to drink, Narada went to bring the water. After reaching a well at village he saw some women filling water into pitcher.out of those he one was very beautiful women, he goes to her and asks water to drink, she gave water, but narada doesn't gone back, he bowled to standing there only. when the women walked back to their homes, Narada followed that beautiful lady to  home. seeing this person followed to home she thought this brahmachari (celibacated person) might be Hungry for food. So with respect she made to seat him comfortablly and make him feed. But after eating also he did not moved from there. Meanwhile the girl's father came home from work. The girl introduced Narada to her father, they both introduced to each other, and mingled fast with one another .After citing comfortable Narada muni asks to make marry his daughter to him.The father felt Narada muni well cultured so he agreed to do so. There were no siblings to the girl so father would be come alone, so he requested Narada to stay along with them. Narada agreed to live there. After some time the father died. Now this couple started to live in that house as  their own. As  Narada entered into samsara jeevanam(married life), with the time passing by he had three kids.

This year there was huge torrential rains , river were flowing to full, that day it was raining heavy and water started entering into village. slowly the water entered into the houses, so people started moving towards the safer high places.Narada also worried about kids so he to kids ,so he make him sit two younger kids on his shoulder and older kid in his one hand and wife in another hand started moving to a safer place.Water pressure was started increasing the older kid couldn't hold hand properly and slipped into the flow.Narada couldn't help himself not knowing what to do and apprehending contentment he started seeking safe place, a strong wave of water came again and Narada resisted himself strongly and some how he could able to make himself stand after fallen down, but in this struggle he lost both kids who were on shoulder.

Now he left with only wife. Narada was grief stricken, inconsolable pain was  to coming out, but somehow he counseled himself  and wife that he had his lady with him, if time is favourable  can have children again. while they were in that thinking and moving a head another strong wave came again and took the wife this time in the water. After long muddling battle with water finally Narada could save himself and pushed to ground to see himself standing at the same place at which lord Krishna asked a cup of water to drink.

All his illusion got detached at once and started repenting himself how he got caught in maya went to the village just for collecting water and caught up in all trap of that maya jungle. what can he do now ab pachtaya ka hoth hai, jab chirya chug gayee khet( hindi idiom meaning what is left behind to repent now when the birds have eaten all the crops)
Ignorant of their ignorance, yet wise In their own esteem, these deluded men Proud of their vain learning go round and round  Like the blind led by the blind. Far beyond Their eyes, hypnotized by the world of sense, Opens the way to immortality. "I am my body; when my body dies, I die." Living in this superstition  They fall life after life under my sway.................. katha Upanishads 2: 6
'The Hereafter never rises before the eyes of the careless child, deluded by the delusion of wealth. "This is the world," he thinks," there is no other; thus he falls again and again under my sway.'........................ Katha Upanishads, 2 : 6  ,Max Muller
So disillusioned people live with illusion , they wont care even to listen the words of path, in fact they runway and untill  eye opening event would occur  to them often with a strong shock.
The morale of  the above story is we should not get caught in this whirlwind of  lusty attachments, we should be aware of his being. This parable gives insights how our mind just caught up in the maya(illusion) and how Narada got distracted from the path he begin his journey just to bring some water, not only he forget the purpose, but rather went far ahead residing there, making family , if there would have no floods, God only knows how many years Narada might have been stayed like that way.We all are suffering like Narada, suffer the pain and pleasure, Muddling with unknown pains, knows not the cause. Having the temporarily pleasures knows not the cause, We all forget the somebody sent us For a Purpose.Wait not until there would be some flood(serious floods) which will wash all our pleasures, and make us stand in front of Nothing, and We WAKE UP!!!., lets not wait until than begin RIGHT Now to know Yourself. If so, the lord would found standing there only even after centuries ,Welcome with open arms. He is There always, its us who moved away from him.

Be Happy

My true friend, who has shown me the meaning of life has shared me this beautiful article. I share the same, here with you all. When I read this, it just simplifies the complicated view of life and relations and our problems.

Be happy, you will grow in to God's greatest blessing, His highest pride.Be happy yesterday's world wants you to enjoy its surrendered breath. Today's world wants you to enjoy its surrendering breath. Tomorrow's world wants you to enjoy its fulfilling breath. Be happy. Be happy in the morning with what you have. Be happy in the evening with what you are. Be happy don't complain, who complains? The blind beggar in you. When you complain, you dance in the mire of ignorance condition. When you don't complain, all the conditions of the world are at your feet and God gives you a new name, aspiration.
Aspiration is the supreme wealth in the world of light and delight. Be happy. Do you want never to be poor? then Be happy.

Be happy, you will get what you like most. You will be what you like best. Be happy, when you are happy, you and God command each other.

God commands you lovingly, you command God hastily. when you are unhappy, the hostile forces command you ruthlessly. Doubt commands you openly, bondage commands you triumphantly and fear commands you unconditionally.

Be happy. God sees in you his aspiring creation, his transforming realisation, his illumining revelation and his fulfilling manifestation. Be happy God sees in us another God. God sees you and he as one. "Evil is in our mind not inside our aspiring heart". The mind wants to taste the whole world infinitesimally , piece by piece. The heart wants to embrace the whole world belongs to it. The mind says, " This is mine. That is yours". The more the mind gets/ can separate, the greater the joy the mind gets. Evil is a sense of separative. When there is union, there is no evil. If we have good will, love, a feeling of oneness, then instead of destroying the world, we shall try to embrace the whole world.Your heart's cheerful willingness to obey God will wash away you mind's ignorance of millennium.

Faith can believe everything that we say. Belief can increase the strength of faith. Belief is pure. Faith is sure .Belief looks around to see the truth .Faith looks within not only to feel the truth but also to become the truth.

Srimad Bhagvad gita verse which changed my orientation of life...

TRANSLATION
The living entity in the material world carries his different conceptions of life from one body to another as the air carries aromas.

When the Lord takes up this body (he brings in with him the mind and the senses) and in his going forth too (casting away the body) he goes taking them as the wind takes the perfumes from a vase. (sri aurobindo)

Thus he takes one kind of body and again quits it to take another. When and how the mind and senses accompany the jiva or embodied being in the process of transmigration from one body at the time of death to another at the time of conception is clarified by Lord Krishna. The purport is that wherever the jiva departs from a body and whenever it is compelled to accept another body the atma or immortal soul migrating from one body to another, arrives with the subtle forms of the mind and senses in tact to perform their functions through the physical body which has been allotted due to karma or reactions to previous actions. The Supreme Lord clarifies this with the analogy of the wind carrying the scents of flowers to various locations...........1(Kumara Vaisnava Sampradaya Kesava Kashmiri)

Here the living entity is described as isvara, the controller of his own body. If he likes, he can change his body to a higher grade, and if he likes he can move to a lower class. Minute independence is there. The change his body undergoes depends upon him. At the time of death, the consciousness he has created will carry him on to the next type of body. If he has made his consciousness like that of a cat or dog, he is sure to change to a cat's or dog's body. And, if he has fixed his consciousness on godly consciousness,It is a false claim that after the annihilation of this body everything is finished. The individual soul is transmigrating from one body to another, and his present body and present activities are the background of his next body. One gets a different body according to karma, and he has to quit this body in due course. It is stated here that the subtle body, which carries the conception of the next body, develops another body in the next life. This process of transmigrating from one body to another and struggling while in the body is called karsati or struggle for existence...........2(Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada )

Exactly fifteen months back, my life was like a wooden log drifting on top of the river , After changing my location to this city,  away from my mentor gradually slipped to such a state of mind where I was unaware of myself and the life was like a drifting log, there was no clarity about what i was doing, just floating with the life pace, it was like caught in the midst of a whirl pool. One day i met a character named Archie(name changed), this person make me woke up again , gradually brought back to  the  same wakeful state which was there when i was living with my mentor. While talking to this person there was inner divine call to read Srimad Bhagvad gita, though i was reading it before as on random basis, but i never read it in a stretch or continuously. This time took oath to read it in full and continues.

As the chapters progressed my interest in the gita also increased, as if some thing from within guiding me to understand, the understanding which were alien to me before, started to revealing itself.
Until finally my deep attachment  got broken once i read above verse. As per my oath i have completed the reading of gita but from inside i got struck up here.

On careful reading of the verse there is an understanding developed in me that
The mind and senses accompany the jiva or embodied body, this line was eye opener for me, This can also be understand like what ever i am today, my present life is  the same or the sum total of all my previous birth's, subtle forms of the mind and senses intact to perform their functions through the physical body which has been allotted due to karma or reactions to previous actions. They were not destroyed  that simply means I remain the same  person with same mind , same attitude, same thoughts., If i would have been reprogrammed in that life, could have been in better position?, why am I identifying my self with problems  so much?, Why would I get irritant with some particular person? why would i say to myself am encircled with so many unresolved challenges ? such questions flowed in mind. Answer is in the programmed of our subconscious mind, the same hard disk with different case cover isn't it?,  is it not simply self explaining that the program written there were all the before past living environment got accumulated in one disk,The external up gradation might have happened without changing the program  installed in the same hard disk and ram speed, to new flat screen monitor? Which lead me to the curiosity  to know more about myself from with in? who am i?

That's where i felt its waste of time to seek solutions for my problems from books, people or from any other external source, when the trouble is in my mind why am trying to find solutions outside? Why I shouldn't probe my mind?, and seek solution, after an year am fully confirmed that there are lots of program installed including so many viruses, which has to be removed to take a leap in the life. All my mentor words started revealing in itself.Strive to make better tomorrow than today.

Sacred teaching on marriage...

Teaching on Marriage
Based on
Bible

1 CORINTHIANS
It is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of immoralities(fornification), each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But this I say by way of concession, not of command. Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that.

But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not leave her husband (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife.

But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her. And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy. Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace. For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?

Only, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk. , but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God. Each man must remain in that condition in which he was called.
Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that.. . Brethren, each one is to remain with God in that condition in which he was called.

But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.

A wife is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. But in my opinion she is happier if she remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
Let thy fountain be blessed:
and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe;
let her breasts satisfy thee at all times;
and be thou ravished always with her love. proverbs 5:18-19

Lawful marriage is a means God has appointed to keep from these destructive vices. But we are not properly united, except as we attend to God's word, seeking his direction and blessing, and acting with affection. Ever remember, that though secret sins may escape the eyes of our fellow-creatures, yet a man's ways are before the eyes of the Lord, who not only sees, but ponders all his goings. Those who are so foolish as to choose the way of sin, are justly left of God to themselves, to go on in the way to destruction.Matthew Henry's concise commentary on bible

Story of ku ku-ki ki kiii..!!!

Story of ku ku-ki ki kiii..!!!

Since last one month i was having strange experience of encountering my ownself, before  to this month i have been very excited for having revelation of inner silence, but as soon as i was getting to know more about inner voice i started to Preach, No wonder and but its obvious that as we get  to know some thing beautiful we  start toshare things with the nearest and the dearest persons, without knowing wheather they are interested or not.
The more i was sharing to the more people, the more they were skipping away from me, i wasn't aware what was goinig on, finally it came infront me, in a form like this- All of sudden one of my close friend stopped talking to me, , i was wonder struck, what could be the reason, when i asked him, he simply avoided me and said offcourse you are not the reason nor it is related abiout you ,some other bothering him. Wel,l understood some thing went wrong with me only, I was investigating myself, finally it was my sister who gave me another jerk when she said "asking you a question means i have to spare 15 minutes for the answer..!!! , what was that, I thought how can she say like that?,Am doinig only good,I started to think  myself, observing more into me where I was doing wrong, why  am losing my close people like this. After all what I was doing to them, just share nice  good thoughts whats wrong in it?, which would highly useful to them obviously, what could be the reason?, With Mentors grace, today I got the answer when I was reading book , How i raised myself from failure to success in selling, by Frank bettger,

There was a line written , which was an eye opener it says "Over talking is one of the worst of all social faults, if you have it, even your best friend wont tell you, but he will dodge you". Oh! my goodness, as i read this line the lightening wisdom struck to me. At once i understood what is over talking i was doing, i might have lost so many friends due to this quality and how my close people dodging me.They don't have any intention of leaveing me but they cant tell , how badly I was boring them, they may knew it very well , the things which i was sharing is the best thing, but they are not ready to take it, they have different mindset all together as of now, which i couldn't simply understood it before this incident. Then after I remembered my mentor who once shared the story of koel( cuckoo) and they bring up their their kids.

The Asian Koel is a brood parasite that lays its eggs in the nests of crows and other hosts, who raise its young. They are unusual among the cuckoos in being largely frugivorous as adults.(source wikipedia) This is well known that koyel keep their young one in the nest of crows, and both have black in colour babies so crow keep on feeding all the babies a like. but interesting thing is the koel keep little distance from the nest and circle it and sing beautiful voice kuu kuuu...which reaches to the baby koel which is in the nest of crow along with the crow babies. surprisingly this baby koel never opens its mouth and start singing or sharing her beautiful voice , until it grows fully and can fly on its own, If the baby open its mouth in between and said ki kiii kii, it would be the last day of her life, because the babies start alarming their mother crow cited a  strange voice among them, with  this new voice,ki kii kiiii..as they all are kaa ..kaaa, they would wonder from where this kii kii came from .Those koel babies who are obedient to their mother never opens their mouth, till they learn to fly on their own (incubation period).
Morale of the story ku kuu - ki ki kiiiii, is never open your mouth until your are in incubation period, Uptil it is over and you begin to take flight on your own,Be shut up!!!!, or else immature minds will throw you away, to kill you.

My mentor used to say be like koel baby listen to the voice of the guide who may be at distance but continuously he keep on teaching things to you , learn those things, till you finally learn to fly on your own, before that never open your mouth.I could not paid my ears to his word, and paid the price.

That's the mistake i have to admit and now i will learn from this mistake. so my battle begins now , I need to fight myself to over come my short coming of over talking. I wish to succeed soon.

Negative thoughts- are now known to be at the root of all our ills on this planet

This is wonderful article read today written by Mr BM Hegde

(Professor Dr BM Hegde, a Padma Bhushan awardee in 2010, is an MD, PhD, FRCP (London, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Dublin), FACC and FAMS. He is also editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Science of Healing Outcomes, chairman of the State Health Society's Expert Committee, Govt of Bihar, Patna. He is former vice-chancellor of Manipal University at Mangalore and former professor for Cardiology of the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London. )

Daily cleansing for the mindProf BM Hegde

"Success isn't about money or fame. Success is living a life you feel proud of"

All of us take bath daily, may be even twice daily, to get rid of the dirt, grime, germs and all the unwanted things from our body's outer surface to keep ourselves healthy. However, we never try and cleanse the mind, which harbours more deadly poisons that could destroy us very easily. Most of us wonder as to where the human mind is, knowing full well that we can not see the mind as we see our hands or feet. The mind is an integral part of the body and resides in every cell in the subatomic quantum level. This quantum concept of the mind explains many of the intricacies of the mind that were hitherto a mystery and did not come under scientific scrutiny. With the advances in quantum physics, the realisation that the mind (consciousness) is the one which observes everything, even in the most complicated scientific experiments. The "Schrodinger's Cat Hypothesis" and "Werner Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle" have brought to fore the importance of the observer. Each and every experiment depends on the eye of the beholder. No physicist has seen the Lepto-Quark, the last bit of the atomic split, although most have felt its impact.

Mind only feels what the external sensory organs see and observe. Human body has between 50-100 trillion individual cells, each of which has its mind at the cell wall with the antennae ready to receive signals from the universal consciousness (universal mind). The cells in different organs might look different but work identically, each one capable of all functions that a human being is capable of. These human cells, which lived independently for millions of years, came together for economic reasons. It makes good sense to come together and assign special jobs to groups of cells (organs). While every human cell loves another cell in the body, these body cells also love other living creatures' cells.

The mind, thus defined, is the source of all our thoughts that, in turn, direct all our actions. Actions and reactions being equal and opposite, our actions beget their consequences; good as well as bad. There are basically two kinds of thoughts-positive and negative. While the former help the growth and development of the organism, the latter, the
negative thoughts, are now known to be at the root of all our ills on this planet, beginning with the simple common cold to the deadly heart attacks, strokes, and even cancer, the all pervasive destroyer!
Study after study of the risk factor hypotheses has revealed the vital role played by negative destructive emotions on the major killers. The Johns Hopkins' student study, the London White Hall study, and the Scandinavian study of men with heart attacks showed the major role played by frustration, hostility and depression in this disease. Similarly depression, with or without treatment, came up as the single most dangerous predisposing factor for growth and maintenance of cancers, with anger as the leading cause of stroke! The simple summary is that it is not what one eats that kills him, but it is what eats one that kills him.

Having thus made sure that it is the mind with negative thoughts that is at the root of all human ills, let us try to find out the source of those negative thoughts and the way they could be cleansed from the mind. Man is born with only two basic instincts-the instinct of self-preservation and that of procreation. The rest of our instincts are acquired after birth. The innocent God-like child has a mind full of universal compassion and love along with the other two necessary basic traits mentioned earlier.

All the negative emotions are fed into our minds after we come into existence. In the name of civilisation our environment makes an effort to inject all these negative feelings, basically related to the monetary economy that we inherited in the last few hundred years. Our ancestors that lived in the forests for thousands of years were innocent people without any of these negative thoughts but could have been physically more cruel when in danger. Emerson was not wrong when he said, "if mankind would have an end it would be as a result of our present civilisation." Today man's greatest enemy is man himself!

The basis of monetary economy is competition. Competing with others is mediocrity, but competing with oneself is excellence. The present society has evolved to respect money and power, thus making man hate another of his species, even when not in danger, leading to unhealthy competition. In a quest for achievement we drive our younger generation into the bottomless pit of hatred. Our educational system does not inculcate values in the young mind. Spiritual quotient is as important as the intelligent quotient and emotional quotient in education but the first and the last are totally missing in the present system. When the negative feelings have taken root firmly, even if one realises the mistake, it takes a long time to flush ones mind of those devils.

For the future generation at least the educational system, for children below the age of fifteen, should avoid competitive ethos. For all of us who have been brought up in the existing system, a different approach needs to be thought of. How do we cleanse our mind of the poison already inside? Spirituality (not religion, lest it should be misinterpreted by vested interests) has many antidotes for the negative feelings in the mind. Spirituality is simply sharing and caring. There are enough scientific studies available today to show how this seemingly simple method could have such profound changes on the human mind. 'Yogic' breathing techniques that use abdominal breathing (belly breathing) methods in place of the inadequate upper chest breathing used by most of us in this busy world, caught in the day-to-day rat race, would make a world of difference.

The method of belly breathing brings on basically two changes inside the system. The first is that it reduces the rate of breathing. This in itself improves tissue oxygenation, reduces heart rate, decreases aortic pressure (thereby blood pressure) and also reduces the pressure in the pulmonary artery taking blood out of the right heart to the lungs. While aorta takes blood out of the left heart, the pulmonary artery does the same to the right heart. Both sides, thus, get relieved of their extra load to that extent. This has been shown even to help patients with advanced heart failure.

The second change happens in the amount of lung tissue that is available for air exchange in the lungs when one takes a deep slow breath using the abdomen. In this method when one draws air inside the lungs, the diaphragm moves so far down into the abdomen pushing the anterior abdominal wall forwards. The lungs now distend fully and oxygenate the blood many times better than in the shallow breathing of anxiety and stressful living. Although this effort, twice a day for as short as fifteen minutes, does a world of difference to our well being by soothing the nerves reducing negative thoughts, making a habit of using belly breathing routinely is a great help! The body's wisdom, in those of us using shallow breathing, compensates the loss of oxygenation by increasing the functioning of the heart to pump that much more blood every minute to make up for the loss of lost lung area. This latter is the cause of all misery. Shallow breathing, therefore, increases heart rate and blood pressure to make one feel tired easily. This is like burning our life unnecessarily.

Inadequate oxygenation of the brain added to the above sequence leads to perpetuation of negative thoughts. One small example would suffice. When you are very angry ask someone to watch your breathing and ask them to remind you to belly breathe for a while. If you did that you would be surprised to see how quickly you get rid of the hatred that brought on the anger in the first place. Many a time you wonder why you became angry at all. Anger and danger are but just one letter (D) apart. Anger and happiness are but a few belly breaths away.

Regular breathing exercise added to a session of shavasana for ten minutes makes you very tranquil and could bring on good sleep as a bonus. Philosophic outlook in life with the awareness of the insignificance of the human organism in the working of the macrocosm would make one humble, reducing pride and jealousy that eat into our minds. Hostility is our biggest enemy. The above simple methods help get rid of all the dangerous negative thoughts

Regular physical exercise, especially outdoor walking, enjoying the bounties of nature en route would add to the perks. Diet enriched with fruits and vegetables could be an added bonus. Small regular meals four to five times a day help keep the internal environment within the limits of healthy fluctuations of the multifarious functions of the body.

Mind could never be forced to do anything but could be indirectly taught to be tranquil through regular breathing exercises and following certain simple rules of the game. Man lives for others. Helping others is the rent one pays for the comforts one enjoys in society. Molecular biology has taught us that even the thought of helping others brings on favourable changes in the cells of the immune system to prevent diseases! Praying for others is very effective as shown by a couple of well-controlled prospective studies done in the US. In addition, praying for others helps one to see life in a better perspective. It gives purpose to life and makes life worth living, avoiding depression. The latter is the greatest epidemic of the West these days. Breathe away to happiness and glory! Bath for the mind consists in daily replacing our negative thoughts like hatred greedy, jealousy, anger and pride with positive thoughts like compassion, camaraderie, co-operation, empathy, and enthusiasm to work and love.
